Before I was known you knew me

Being unplanned I was planned

Before I followed you called me

You had my life in your hand

Why did you find me

Why did you search me out

Why do you love

Why don’t you ever give up – on – me

I tried to but…

In the darkest of darkest you were there

In the loudest of noise I could hear – you

In the deepest of silence – I pained – I feared

I ran – I cried

“I don’t understand” – and you heard.

And you saw & you — you understood

Precious yes precious in your sight

To be called precious is past all joy

In the eyes of my Father, my protector, my love, my redeemer

I found, where I belong

—- I’m a twinkle in my father’s eye

I see behind your big blue eyes

the smile you hide your face behind

I see the sorrow of your heart

the pain you think I do not see

I know what’s there & I do care.

Surrounded by such festivities

with pain welling up inside of me

Others not seeing, not knowing

what’s happening in my heart

But I do see, and I do care

I do see, I’ve been there

Close those eyes & think of me

I’m closer than you see

Still your mind & still your heart

and reach for me, think of me

The pain so real within your heart

I understand, it once was mine

I do see, and I do care

I do see, I’ve been there

You see

I am a man of sorrow, acquainted with grief

People ran away, my people rejected me

But my father’s will had to be done

I was obedient, I was lonely

My heart cried out for intimacy

My place with my Father,

Intimacy, that’s what you want with me.

I do see, & I do care

I do see, I’ll take you there

Love sustains us. God is love. His Spirit is in us.

  1. Donna Maria…I enjoyed reading both poems, even read them twice. They each have a wonderful sensory feel to them, and seem to also elicit a tender praise and worship vibe.

When one walks with God, Our Father, one never walks alone. His warm embrace comforts and keeps us; which is more and treasured in these days and times.

Through the pain, through the pain, He comforts, and manifests through those who hear his subtle verse.
